QUESTION:
My LS XR 4140 tractor calls for GL4 gear oil for the front (FWD) axle. I assume there is no reason to avoid your GL5 gear oil in place of GL4 oil in this use?
posted by John Mahan
ANSWER:
It might need an utto type fluid, all our UTTO and STOU fluids are gear / transmission / hydraulic GL-4 specs. You can use any of those. We do not recommend GL-5 for GL-4 applications, they are different. GL-5 oils are a lot more slippery.

QUESTION:
is this an equivalent or better than "Mazda Long Life Hypoid Gear Oil SG1" Spec'd for the 2018 and up AWD mazdas?
posted by Michael Ludinsky
ANSWER:
No, the Mazda fluid is a 75W85. This is a 75W90. Technically it will not make any difference in performance, its just that the viscosity is 7% thicker, which should help a lot in hotter climates.
